Tesla (TSLA) expects ‘very high volume’ deliveries at the end of the quarter | Elon Musk News

Tesla is expecting a “very high volume” of vehicle deliveries during the end of the quarter, and it’s asking all employees to help — even those outside the sales and distribution organization. .

Over the past year, CEO Elon Musk has said that Tesla would try to move away from its model, resulting in a massive push for deliveries at the end of each quarter, but had a hard time achieving that.

According to the CEO, last quarter ended as another “nut.”

While a more manageable delivery push was expected towards the end of the third quarter, we are beginning to see signs that this could be a more rapid delivery push.

Earlier this month, we reported that Tesla furloughed sales staff it had sent into service to push through the end of the quarter.

today, electrek May report that Tesla is expecting “higher volume” at the end of the quarter. Tesla management wrote in an email to the employees it received electrek,

we will deliver a large amount of vehicles To make customers eagerly wait during the last days of Q3. To help ensure that we can please as many customers as possible, the delivery team is requesting additional support with key delivery-execution tasks.

In the email, Tesla requests that all employees, even those who do not work in the sales and distribution department, help with the tasks of delivering vehicles to customers at the end of the quarter.

These tasks may include moving vehicles, washing and preparing vehicles, delivering vehicles directly to customers, and answering customer questions on the day of delivery.

In the past, Tesla had engineers, managers and even executives flock to delivery centers to help with those tasks during the quarter-end delivery push.

Almost all analysts are predicting that Tesla is going to deliver a record number of vehicles during the third quarter. Tesla delivers between 350,000 and 370,000 units in Q3 by most delivery estimates.

This will be a significant jump from its previous all-time distribution record of ~310,000 units in the first quarter of 2022.

Tesla is expected to report its delivery and production numbers during the weekend.

While there are downsides to these end-of-quarter delivery pushes, people shouldn’t underestimate how much of a difference they can make.

During some pushback, Tesla has been able to deliver tens of thousands of additional vehicles.

There’s no doubt this quarter is going to be another delivery record, but the last few days of the month could be the difference between Tesla’s low end or the high end of those 350,000- to 370,000-unit delivery estimates.

In turn, 10,000 to 20,000 fewer vehicles in inventory would make a big difference to its earnings for the quarter. Hence the importance of the end-quarter delivery push.
